What can you expect from this convergence?

A 3-day learning journey

Every time we look out into the world, we observe it through a certain lens. Based on our mindsets, our experiences, our backgrounds... These observations are unique to every person. In other words: each of us sees the world differently. When we are amongst like-minded people - say, a group of permaculture enthousiasts - these differences are probably still small. But when mixed up in our larger society, it sometimes feels as if we're worlds apart. Humans are culturaly diverse, as much as nature is biodiverse!

That's why we feel it's so important to converge around the topics that are close to our hearts. The word converge means "to tend or move toward one point or one another, or to come together and unite in a common interest". It is about finding common ground and supporting each other, in this case on our permaculture journeys.

The idea for this convergence is that each day, we will reflect on our observations and experiences through a different lens. To familiarize ourselves a little in advance, let's briefly look through these lenses one by one.

Most of our practical life skills, we learn by doing. We try something, we fail, then try again, until we figure it out. Or we simply look at what someone else is doing, and if it seems to be working well for them, we then follow along.

Permaculture, I think, has earned its credibility mostly through its practitioners. Of course there is lots of great material to read and learn from, and already in theory, the whole concept makes a lot of sense... But the key is to see it applied in the real world. Permaculture is very much about being down-to-earth!

And this has inspired many of us to follow along and practice permaculture in our own lives. Some of us may have a big farm already, while for others it might only be the window ledge in the kitchen. Both are equally valuable! And both once started with a single plant, as Jojo Rom would say.

What better way to enjoy permaculture, than by practicing it? Let's help our host, Tuburan, to take their gardening efforts to the next level!

Sidetracks

During Day 2 and Day 3, you can sneak out from the gardening work and the main activities if you like, and join a couple of sidetracks. Some may be ongoing the whole day, so you can walk in anytime, and some will have a schedule.

These sidetracks are more informal in nature, or even a bit experimental.
And most importantly:

Anyone can host or start a sidetrack!
